Video Games
The history of vide games arguably started during the earliest period of computers during the early fifties when early programmers and engineers developed various simple computer programs for their amusement or for demonstrative purposes. However the video games industry never actually took off until the late nineteen seventies when the advent of microchip technology allowed significant advances to be made in the development of games. During this period arcades games where incredibly popular and as technology advanced and miniaturisation took play these games made their way into peoples homes in the form of consoles, this signalled the advent of the home computer game industry.
Since the commercial potential of home video games was realised there have been many significant advances made in the technology used by them. The games consoles and computer games of today bear little resemblance to their predecessors as technology has advanced by such a significant degree. Today modern home video games consoles will incorporate every possible aspect of new and emerging technology that they are able to. For example, many modern games console will incorporate internet connectivity into their design or make use of motion sensitive controllers.
The platforms that video games are played on have changed with the times too and games are no longer restricted to PCs or games consoles. For example, many people will play games on their mobile phones, many of which now have the capability to run fairly advanced programs.
